Jerry Milton Davis

Jerry Milton Davis, 78, died Saturday, December 4, 2021 at The Ranch House in Garden City, Kansas. He was born September 15, 1943 in Fort Worth, Texas the son of Milton Herbert & Nova Lee (Posey) Davis. Jerry earned a Master’s degree from the Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. On June 4, 1965, he married Gloria M Thompson in Amarillo, Texas. They moved to Garden City in August 1976 and have lived in Garden City since. Jerry worked as an Engineer and Draftsman for Foster Design and Engineering and later worked for Walco. He was also a “Jack of all Trades.” Jerry was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City. He also served two terms as a Finney County Commissioner District # 2, served on the Finney County Library Board, served as a Red Cross Volunteer, and Great Plains Development. Survivors include his wife Gloria M. Davis of the home; three daughters Kim Kells of Garden City, Heidi (Wil) Guess of Eagle Nest, New Mexico, & Holly (Tim) Peterson of Hernando, Florida; two Grandsons Anthony Strickert and Jerry Strickert both of Garden City; and a Great-Granddaughter Jaelyn Strickert of Garden City. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City with Rev. John Harms officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10 at the Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon, Texas. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to the First Southern Baptist Church Building Fund or to the Mike Rowe Works Foundation, both in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
