Ruth K. Funderburg, 100, of Pine Bluff, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021. She was born July 19, 1921 in Pine Bluff, a daughter of Mack Lofton Kelley and Josie Ginnett Kelley.
Ruth was a lifelong resident of Pine Bluff and was a graduate of Watson Chapel High School. She had been employed by Newberry Fountain as her first job, Ben Pearson as a spindle operator until 1982, then worked as a cook at Edgewood Elementary School. Ruth loved gardening and was especially proud of her tulips. People would often show up to look and take pictures of them. She also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles from the newspaper. Ruth was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years and loved attending services and activities.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Vernon Funderburg, whom she married December 8, 1945 and who passed away April 18, 1974; brother, Dale Kelley; and sister, Lois Cash.
Ruth is survived by two daughters, Betty Pottenger and Rita Ratliff; 5 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Ralph Robinson and Son with Rev. Howard Loetscher officiating. Burial will be in Lee Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time on Wednesday.
