George Duane Barr. 79 of Wellsburg, WV passed away December 4, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 29, 1942, in West Union, WV, son of the late Albert William and Bertha Bell Claybourne Barr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers Charles, John and Clyde Barr, and a son John “Jake” Barr. George worked for Valley Camp Coal Mines for many years before its closing, then he went on to work for the City of Wellsburg, WV, and the Hammond Public Service District. George is survived by his loving wife, Pearl Heinzeroth Barr whom he married October 7, 1961, three daughters Joyce and Don Tennant, of Wellsburg, WV, Lura and Rick Joseph of Bethany, WV, and Glenda Colley of Wellsburg, WV, one son George and Susie of Wellsburg, WV, seven grandchildren Zachary, Kayla, Deidre, Matthew, Rick, Tiffany, and Michael, and six great grandchildren Jaden, Ross, Rhett, Silas, Ziva, and Wyatt, and six siblings Martha Jane Henry of Pocatello, ID, Lucille Quick of Ravenna, OH, William Jake Barr of Ravenna, OH, Pat Cork and Ellsworth Sedalia, Steve Barr, of Phoenix, AZ, Sue Ross and George of New Milton, WV, many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. George enjoyed hunting and going on fishing trips with his brother Clyde Barr, Bob Griffith, Frank, and Ervin Cowan. He also enjoyed time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed his cat Jezebell who would work on his head, and his guard dog Mitty. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2021, from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Reasner Funeral Home 1515 Charles Street, Wellsburg, WV and again on Wednesday December 8, 2021, from 9 until the time of service at 11am at the funeral home, with Larry Lemasters officiating.
