Elizabeth (Betty) MacMillan, born June 14, 1921, passed away at her home on December 3, 2021 after a short illness, embraced in the love of her family. She was a lifelong resident of Park Hill, Denver, Colorado and raised her five children with her husband of 58 years, John H. MacMillan. She is survived by her children: Ann (Tom) Wardle, John Andrew (Patricia) MacMillan, Malcolm MacMillan, Christine (Robert Maddalena) MacMillan, Stephen MacMillan, daughter-in-law Evangeline Lall MacMillan; seven grandchildren: Gregory (Mary McHugh) Wardle, Erik (Christina Eylar) Wardle, Terese (Peter) Williams, Julia Maddalena, Collin MacMillan, Lauren MacMillan, Timothy (Robin) King; six great-grandchildren: Eliana and Silas Wardle, Clara Wardle, Zane and Madilyn Williams, Joshua King; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Johnny, her sister Virginia, and her grandson Sean. Betty attended Park Hill, Smiley and East High schools, and graduated from the University of Denver in theater and political science. She earned a master’s degree later in life. She became a teacher and school librarian in the Denver Public Schools, retiring in 1987. She met Johnny in 1941 on the day Pearl Harbor was attacked and they married in 1943, during his years serving in WWII. She enjoyed gardening, the mountains, genealogy, road trips with Johnny, reading, writing, and being the best daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother anyone could have. There will be a private graveside service at Fairmount Cemetery, followed by a private family memorial right after Christmas and a celebration of life in June 2022.
