Grady "Red" Moore Obituary

Grady “Red” Moore, 92 of Verdunville, WV, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 2, 2021 at his residence. He was born March 26, 1929 in Harts (Bryant Ridge), WV. He was the son of the late Archie and Laura Moore. Grady was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Julia Ostrich Moore, brothers Troy Nelson, Samuel and Donald Moore, sisters, Jewel “Sissy” Butcher, and Reba Tomblin, grandson Gabriel Webb. Grady was a United States Army Veteran. He was retired UMWA coal miner with 47 years of experience. He loved hunting, ginsenging, and fishing, but most importantly teaching about the outdoors. One of his favorite hobbies were dedicating his time alongside friends Richard and Peewee to give to the youth of Logan County by being the best field crew they could be for many years together. H enjoyed gardening, but enjoyed giving more than he actually harvested. He took great pride in taking care of his wife, Julia Moore, while at the same time took care of his sister in law, Mary Ostrich. He enjoyed so much to have met and spent time with great great granddaughter Berkeley Kate Adkins “Pap’s Girl”. Grady was loved by all children. He believed in giving the children all the effort he could and treated them all like his own. He was a faithful contributor to the St. Jude’s Foundation. Those left to cherish his memory include his children Diane Webb, Gary (Linda) Moore, Tammy Moore McCloud and Jordan Moore all of Verdunville, grandchildren Andrea (Doug) Adkins, Joshua Webb, Stacy McCart, Jason McCloud and Matthew Moore, great grandchildren Jason McCloud II, McKenna (Benjamin) Adkins, Cheyenne Webb, William Adkins, Noah Adkins, Alexandria McCart, great great grandchildren Iliana Webb and Berkeley Adkins, sister Lucille Tomblin of Verdunville, and a host of special nieces and nephews. Special friends Rickard “Dick” Adkins, Andrew “Pee Wee” Badgett, Ben Elkins, Bernice Richardson, Harold Lee Evans, Charles Dalton, Jim Harmon, Drema Miller, Chalk Moore, Scott Conley, Mary Rose Marcum, Raymond Williamson, Alex Tomblin, and Larry Caldwell. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Verdunville Church of God in Verdunville, with Pastor Michael Hartwell and Rev Lonnie Gore officiating. Friends may call on the family from 12:00 to 2:00 on Friday at the church. The family asks, in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to the St. Jude’s Foundation in honor of Grady’s life.
