John Warren Lewis Sr., 71, of Lockbridge went home to be with Jesus Thursday, December 2, 2021 following a short illness.

     He was born February 1, 1950, in Greenbrier County, to the late Oscar Pearl Sr. and Artis Ethel Simmons Lewis.

     John was a devoted Christian who loved God and his family and was a member of First Baptist Church of Hinton. He was a kind and generous man to all who met him. 

     John was a 1967 graduate of Crichton High School in Greenbrier County and a 1971 graduate of WVU Tech.  John began his career in Education as a science teacher at Greenbrier West High School where he taught for 29 years.  He then became the Principal of Rainelle Elementary/Junior High School. John continued to be the Principal at Rainelle Elementary until his retirement.  He proudly retired with 43 years of service to the children as a teacher, principal and coach for the Greenbrier County Board of Education.

     Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 18 years, Anna Belle Miller Lewis; three children, John Warren Lewis Jr. and wife Sonya of Richmond, VA, Michael Lewis and wife Beth of MD and April Lewis Taylor and husband Ron of Charmco; four step children, Kimberly Adams and husband Bobby of King, NC, Kelly Mills and husband Keith of Hinton, Samantha Moretz of King, NC and J. B. Simmons and wife Kaitie of Troutman, NC; two grandsons, Ashton and Matthew Lewis; twelve step grandchildren, Douglas and Brittany McLaughlin, McKenzi Olonko, Mark and Caleb Miller, Levi and Luke Mills, Ian, Colin and Meredith Moretz and Ella and Reese Simmons and one dear brother, Oscar Pearl “Bimbo” Lewis Jr. and wife Kathy of St. Albans.

     Graveside services and burial will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Wallace Memorial Gardens at Clintonville with Pastor Todd Lusk officiating.  Friends may gather from 12:30 P.M. until time of services on Wednesday at the cemetery.  Pallbearers: Dale and Mike Miller, Darrell Tincher, Bobby Adams, Keith Mills, Richard Willard and J.B. Simmons. Honorary pallbearer: Ron Taylor.
