<p>&nbsp;</p> <p>In loving memory of Peggy &ldquo;Peggy Sue&rdquo; Ann Wright Holmes</p> <p>Peggy &ldquo;Peggy Sue&rdquo; Ann Wright Holmes of Corpus Christi, Texas, went to be with her Heavenly Father on her birthday, December 2, 2021. She was 84 years young.</p> <p>Peggy Sue was born on December 2, 1937 to parents John Henry Wright and Flora Estelle Faught Holmes in Emmitt, near Hope, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Ronald Dean Holmes and nephews Stanley Dean Wright and Monty Wright. She became a Christian at age 13 and was baptized in a pond in Spring Hill, near Hope, Arkansas. She joined the Missionary Baptist Church in Spring Hill, near Hope, Arkansas. In 1953, the family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where Peggy Sue graduated from Ray High School in 1955 and then attended Del Mar College.<br /> <br /> Peggy Sue married Charles A. Holmes, Sr. on May 17, 1956, and began a career as a home-maker, raising their four children, sons Ronald Dean Holmes, Charles Alton Holmes, Jr. of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Michael Scott Holmes of Austin, Texas and daughter Julie Denise Holmes Raby (Joe) of Orlando, Florida. In the 1960&rsquo;s, Peggy Sue and her husband found time to operate Tropical Kingdom Pet Shop on Lexington Boulevard. Later she worked many years for Central Power and Light (now American Electric Power) and Christus Spohn Health System, finally retiring in 2006. In retirement, she worked for Home Instead Senior Companions, taking care of her older friends and being a caregiver. She also enjoyed being a nanny, as well as a Para Professional with Corpus Christi Independent School District and a volunteer at Driscoll Children Hospital. Throughout her life, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, and many types of painting. Peggy Sue especially enjoyed the art of dancing. She organized a dance class at St. John United Methodist Church with Ted Bay as instructor and took lessons from Ronald Adame at First United Methodist. Now she is dancing in heaven praising our Savior.<br /> <br /> Faith in Jesus Christ was extremely important to Peggy Sue. Her life&rsquo;s motto was &ldquo;Love God and all people, work hard, be happy, and forgive.&rdquo; She was an active member in the singles group at St. John&rsquo;s United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church for many years and held offices in both groups. The members of the singles group became family to Peggy Sue and she loved to entertain them in her backyard with Bar-B-Ques and other parties.<br /> <br /> In addition to her children, Peggy Sue was survived by her grandchildren, Sarah Colleen Holmes and Rachel Caroline Holmes of Austin, Texas and Ashley Nicole Raby, Elizabeth &ldquo;Annie&rdquo; Anne Raby, and Joseph Matthew Raby of Orlando, Florida. Other survivors her siblings, Ruel Dean Wright (Barbara) of Waskom, Texas, Ruth Evelyn Kemp of Hertford, North Carolina, Shirley Faye Robinson of Austin, Texas and many nieces, nephews and cousins.<br /> <br /> Viewing will be held at Seaside Memorial Park and Funeral Home from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on December 5, 2021. A service of praise and thanksgiving celebrating Peggy Sue Holmes&rsquo; life will be held at First United Methodist Church, 900 S. Shoreline Blvd., Corpus Christi, Texas at 2:00 pm on December 6, 2021.</p>
