James Frederick Mooney Obituary

BANGOR - James F. Mooney, 79, died peacefully at his home on December 2, 2021 with his family by his side.

He was born December 26, 1941 in Bangor, the son of Ralph and Mary (Hutchings) Mooney.


Jim work for the Standard Shoe Company for 38 years. After retirement, he did gardening in Castine where Jim met many lovely people.


He loved following his grandchildren in whatever they did which included their sports, music and drama throughout high school and College. He immensely enjoyed his “bonus” grandchildren as well. During the summers Jim enjoyed spending time at his camp on Toddy Pond.


In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Mooney and Nancy Doughty; father and mother-in-law, Stephen and Goldie Lydick.


He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sylvia (Lydick) Mooney; daughter, Joyce Mooney and her significant other, Stephen Larrabee of Prospect; three grandchildren, Robert Pushard, III and his wife, Beth of Lacey, Washington, James Pushard and his wife, Jill of Eddington, and Janelle Welton and her husband, Joshua of Huntington, Massachusetts; two great-grandchildren, Lena and Baxter Pushard of Lacey, Washington.


A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Hammond Street, Bangor with Rev. Peter Remick, officiating.
