Phillip Berent Gunderson, 79, of Platte, SD passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial Services are 10:30 AM Friday, December 10, 2021 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Menno, SD. Mount Funeral Home of Platte is assisting with arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family through mountfuneralhome.com. Phillip Berent Gunderson was born on March 17, 1942 to Ralph Oscar and Miriam (Brown) Gunderson. He graduated from Menno High School in 1960 and attended college, but later left to pursue a career in music. Phil traveled all over the United States while playing music and met many famous people like, B. J. Thomas and Del Shannon. He played music for 43 years. For the last couple years of Phil's life his eldest son made the decision to help him with his day-to-day needs. Phil had been married five times but it was his last marriage to Terri Pennington on May 21, 1998 that he had children: Shaun, Enjoli, Brian and Xaviera. He loved watching football and bbq programs. Phil also spent his time hunting and fishing. He is survived by his four children and one grandchild, Xena Foust. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph; his mother, Miriam; his brother, Ralph "Kip" Gunderson and his ex-wife, Terri. He will be dearly missed.
