Daniel Carrillo Tovar Obituary

Daniel C. Tovar, 84, a resident of Bayard, New Mexico passed away, at his Silver City residence with his loved ones by his side on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Baca’s Funeral Chapels.

A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will take place at eleven o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard, New Mexico. A Memorial Mass for Daniel will follow at eleven-thirty in the morning at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Officiating is Father Martin Okonkwo.

Daniel was born to Juan Tovar and Regina Carrillo Tovar in Hanover, New Mexico on June 3, 1937. Daniel graduated from Cobre High School in Bayard, New Mexico and went on to a career in the mining industry where he worked primarily as a hoistman. Daniel was a dedicated fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around with everybody. Hunting was one of Daniel’s favorite hobbies. He would always joke, “I don’t shoot anything that’s alive!”

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, Juan Sr. and Regina Tovar; four brothers, Manuel, Juan, Thomas, and Onecimo Tovar; two sisters, Soledad Legarda and Elisa Curry.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dora D. Tovar of the family home; two daughters, Angie Tovar and Sylvia Tulloch (Dan); one brother, Alex Tovar (Bernadette); two sisters, Rita Montoya (Benny) and Mary Mendoza; four grandchildren, Austin Nolan (Cheyenne), Ashlee Nolan, Teyler Tulloch, and Tyler Tulloch.

Daniel’s family will lay him to rest with his parents at Hanover Cemetery in Hanover, New Mexico at a later date.
