Gertrude Ruegsegger Obituary

We celebrate the life of Gertrude “Trudy” Ruegsegger, who passed away on November 27th at the age of 99. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Frederick “Fritz” Ruegsegger, and is survived by her three sons, Fred (Kathy), Peter (Linda) and Charlie (Jean), grandchildren, Heather (David), Colin (Karrie), Bree, Luke, Makena and Peter, and great grandchildren Jeorgia, Ethan, Ella. Trudy lived a wonderful life. Born in 1922 in Zurich, Switzerland, the daughter of Albert and Maria Hunziker, Trudy was an entrepreneur at an early age, building a successful fashion business. In the years after WWII she met Fritz Ruegsegger and together they ventured to the United States, living briefly in Tonopah NV, Santa Barbara CA, eventually finding a long-term home in Mt. Prospect, IL. Trudy helped her sons grow and prosper and seeing them have families of their own was one of the joys of her life. She had a number of close friends, several of whom shared her passion for bridge. She was an avid reader, and her skill as a gardener was always on display around her home. And to the benefit of many, she was a terrific cook, always happy to host wonderful meals with relatives and family friends. She will be missed and will always be remembered for being a wonderful wife and mother, a great friend, and a person of high integrity and character. She leaves us with an abundance of fond memories, and a heritage grounded in the belief that striving for excellence will never lead you astray. Thanks, and farewell Trudy, we are all the better for knowing you! Funeral information (847) 255-7800 or www.friedrichsfh.com.
