Loretta Mae Alley

July 8, 1936 - December 1, 2021

Loretta Alley passed away from complications of a stroke at Evergreen Hospice House, surrounded by her family.

Loretta Mae Bush was born in Glenwood, Minnesota to Laura McClellan Bush and Glen Bush. She lived on a dairy farm in Minnesota until early 1947 when the family, which now included baby sister, Darlene, drove from Minnesota to Tangent, Oregon. Loretta attended McFarland Elementary School, and Albany Union High School, graduating in 1954. Loretta’s first job was working at Dave White Insurance answering phones, then at Pearce, Chadwick, & Robb Insurance, then finally was an underwriter at Valley Insurance before retiring. Loretta worked in the insurance industry for more than 30 years.

Loretta met Ernie Alley at White Spires Presbyterian Church. They married in the parsonage on October 7, 1961, living in Albany for their 48 years of marriage. Loretta was organist for 40 years at Eastside Christian Church. She loved country-western music, taking many trips to Branson, Missouri with her husband and, after he passed, her daughter.

She was preceded in death by infant son, Carl Robert Alley, and husband Ernest Alley. She is survived by daughters Janna Alley and Cindy Alley both of Eugene, grandsons Jonathan Alley of Eugene and Timothy Alley of Ehime, Japan, sister Darlene Felker of Mesa, Arizona, Will Carey of Halsey, Stacia Mayhead of Albany, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews
