Sharon Marie Gatzke Obituary

Sharon Marie Wolpers Gatzke, 79, of Owasso, Oklahoma, traded her earthly home to be with the Lord the morning of December 1, 2021. She was born September 29, 1942 to Virgil and Mary Wolpers in Saginaw, Michigan. She graduated from Lourdes High School in Rochester, Minnesota in 1960, then relocated to Oklahoma where she served as Chief Dispatcher for the Owasso Police Department and then as a Senior Communications Officer for McDonnel Douglas Aircraft Corp. Sharon married Del Gatzke on September 2, 1989, and remained together for thirty years until his death in 2019. During that time, they enjoyed traveling the world together, including spending several years in Saudi Arabia. Sharon had a variety of hobbies, including reading, jewelry making, camping, knitting, and watching television

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Mary; husband, Del; and grandson, Joshua Gatzke.

Left to cherish her memory include her children: Jim Schraad (Karen), John Schraad (Regan), Joe Schraad (Julie), Steve Gatzke (Audra), David Gatzke, Liz Evans (Frank), and Laura Schooler (Ron); grandchildren: Michael Schraad (Lauren), Brian Schraad (Sara), Clayton Calhoun, Ben Schraad (Megan), Lindsay Schraad (Scott), Daniel Schraad (Brenda), Isabella Schraad, William Schraad, Casey McKnight (Ben), Conner Gatzke, Andrew Schooler, Hannah Schooler, Nick Schooler, Emily Schooler, and Jesse Greiving; siblings: Carol Thorn (Dave), Beth Cummings, Anita Hillis (John), Dale Wolpers (Kathy) and Don Wolpers (Anne); as well as eight great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends. She leaves behind her a legacy of family who will keep her in their hearts forever.

A celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 6, at Hope United Methodist Church, 12424 E. 31st Street in Tulsa. Reverend Thomas Hoffman and Pastor Mark Mann will be officiating.
