Gary Wayne Bastian
<p>Gary Wayne Bastian was born March 27, 1948, in Rockford, IL and passed away peacefully at home on November 30th, 2021, at the age of 73. Gary was raised in Sandwich IL until he joined the Navy and served in Vietnam. He made his home in Montgomery IL where he worked as a security guard at Western Electric until the plant closed and then worked at Dial and VVF until retirement. He served with the Montgomery and Countryside Fire Department for 30 years until he retired as a Captain. He greatly loved his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening, playing cards, bowling, and baking his famous oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. </p> <p> </p> <p>He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Betty Bastian; sister, Pam Bastian; father-in-law, Robert Chada, brother, David Grieser; sister-in-law, Jane Grieser, and niece, Sara Cole. </p> <p> </p> <p>He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lynn (Schillinger) Bastian; daughters Jennifer Kies, Leah Bastian and Corey (Larry) Czerwinski; his grandchildren, Jace Bastian, Nicholos Soto, Heather (Brian) Torres, Taylor Kies, Alysa Bastian and Noah Czerwinski; his great grandson, Adriel Torres; his sister, Vanessa (Mike) Prosek; mother-in-law, Anieta Chada; sisters-in-law, Kaye (Ron) Scott and Kathy Schillinger; nieces Amanda (Jerry) Marks, Liz (Tim McMahel) Montgomery and Kasey (Wayne Chambers) Gabrielsen; nephews Nicholas (Cassie) Sajeske, Jake (Shane) Prosek, Kyle (Nikki) Gabrielsen, Cody (Caroline) Scott, and Sam Scott and many great-nieces and great-nephews. </p> <p> </p> <p>Family will be receiving guests on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12 noon at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 S.
