Luvena Ann (LuAnn) Morris was born June 24, 1943, to parents William Judson and Lula Mae (Elliott) Brown in Alfalfa County, Oklahoma, near Jet, and passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma, on December 1, 2021. On June 27, 1966, she married the love of her life Byron Thomas Morris. He helped raise her two sons, Edward and Timothy Long, and had a daughter together, Jennifer Morris Hatchett. They made their home in Ringwood before moving to Fairview in 1975, and then to Enid in 1984. They also lived overseas in Okinawa, Japan, and Belgium from 1991-2005. LuAnn was a teacher for 33 years. She graduated from Jet High School in 1961, and went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University, and later a Master’s Degree. She taught at Fairview Schools before the birth of her daughter and then taught 4th grade in Longdale for 11 years. She was a Special Education teacher at Emerson Junior High in Enid from 1982 - 1990 and then a year at Enid High School. LuAnn joined the Civil Service through the Department of Defense Educator’s Association in 1991. Her and Byron traveled overseas where she taught 8 years on Kadena Air Force Base on Okinawa, Japan, and 6 years at Shape NATO Base in Belgium. They retired back to Oklahoma in 2005. LuAnn will be remembered as a caring educator, loving mother, a God loving woman, and a woman who loved her husband. She is survived by her son Edward Joel and Robin Long of Stillwater, her daughter Jennifer and Thad Hatchett of Columbus, Indiana, her grandsons Jacob Long and Nathan Hatchett, and her granddaughter Anna Hatchett; 1 sister Mary Alice Ringlaben of Houston; 1 brother William (Lila) Brown of Arlington, Washington; 3 sisters-in-law Helen Brown of Enid, Judy Brown of Roanoke, Texas, and Sue Brown of Wichita; numerous nieces and nephews including Connie Bowen, Valerie Bayless, and Virginia Addington; and a world full of friends. LuAnn was preceded in death by her loving husband Byron on November 28, 2021, her parents, son Timothy Long; 4 brothers: Dennis, Joel, LaDell, and David; and 1 brother-in-law Jack Ringlaben. A Funeral Service for Luvena Ann Morris will be 10:00am, Wednesday, December 8, 2021, in the Ladusau-Evans Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Burial will follow in Square Cedar Cemetery under the direction of the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
