Byron Thomas Morris Obituary

Byron Thomas Morris was born September 9, 1939, to parents Joseph Marion and Ida Mae (Oakley) Morris in Harper County, Kansas, near Argonia, and passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma, on November 28, 2021. In the early 1950s, his family moved to Ringwood, Oklahoma, where Byron graduated from Ringwood High School with the class of 1957. He was drafted into the United States Army on September 12, 1962, serving for 2 years as a Medical Specialist in Louisiana. On June 27, 1966, he married the love of his life Luvena Ann (LuAnn) Brown. He helped raise her two sons, Edward and Timothy Long, and had a daughter together, Jennifer Morris Hatchett. They made their home in Fairview from 1975 to 1984 and then moved to Enid. They also lived overseas in Okinawa, Japan, and Belgium from 1991-2005. Byron was a craftsman for most of his life working as a home builder in the Fairview area in the 1970’s and early 1980’s. After moving to Enid, he worked with his brother Darrell at The Trim Shop. Overseas he learned to frame pictures and found his passion. Their home and many others are filled with his loving presence captured in wood and glass. He will be remembered as a kind man, a caring man, a God loving man, and a man who loved his wife. LuAnn followed him in death on December 1, 2021. He is survived by his son Edward and Robin Long of Stillwater, his daughter Jennifer and Thad Hatchett of Columbus, Indiana, his grandsons Jacob Long and Nathan Thomas Hatchett, and his granddaughter Anna Hatchett; 3 brothers: Keith (Debra) Morris of Norman, Kenneth (Dolores) Morris of Broken Arrow, and Gary (Teri) Morris of Goltry; 1 sister Sheryl Smith of Booneville, Arkansas, and 1 sister-in-law Carolyn Morris of Enid; numerous nieces and nephews including Connie Bowen, Valerie Bayless, and Virginia Addington; and a world full of friends. Byron was preceded in death by his parents, son Timothy Long; 4 brothers: Ellis, Darrell, Abraham, and Isaiah; 1 sister Anna Riggs and 1 sister-in-law Shirley Morris Mack; 2 brothers-in-law Gale Riggs and James David Smith.
