Verna N. Chupp

Verna N. Chupp 82, of Holmesville passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 2, 2021 following a short illness. She was born on April 2, 1939 to the late Noah and Lydia Ann (Miller) Schlabach. On October 29, 1959 she married Eli Chupp who passed away October 21, 2021, 6 short weeks ago. Verna was a homemaker and enjoyed piecing quilts and quilting for many years, and always enjoyed coffee breaks with her neighbor ladies. She was a member of Gospel Haven Mennonite Church in Benton. She is survived by her six children, David (Marlene) Chupp of Millersburg, Lou (LaVern) Miller of Millersburg, Mervin (Joyce) Chupp of Fredericksburg, Sue (Mike) Stutzman of Holmesville, Phil Chupp of Wooster, and Marilyn of the home; 16 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings Roy (late Anna) Schlabach, Jonas (Irene) Schlabach, Henry (Sara Etta) Schlabach, Freeman (Catherine) Schlabach, Mary Schlabach, Esther (Louis) Schwartz, Noah, Jr. (Darla) Schlabach; and a sister-in-law Martha (late John) Schlabach. In addition to her parents and her husband Eli, she was preceded in death by her brother John Schlabach; sister Ada Hyers; and sister-in-law Anna Schlabach. Funeral services will be held at Gospel Haven Mennonite Church on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Sam Yoder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A public visitation will be held at the church on Sunday, December 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday, December 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, December 7, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. prior to the service. The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Pomerene Hospital and Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare for their kind, considerate care of Mom.
