Mildred E. Menning, 93, of Latimer, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 6, 2021, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Latimer. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church on Monday. Burial will take place in the Hampton Cemetery. Mildred was born September 25, 1928, in Hampton, to John and Edna (Meyer) Kracht. She attended Franklin County Country School. On October 20, 1946, Mildred was united in marriage to Lester Menning in Hampton. To this union, three children were born: Barbara, Beverly and Allan. She was a devoted housewife on the farm for many years. Mildred was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Latimer, and a member of Philathea, always a helper in the kitchen and was a former custodian of her church. She was also a member of Latimer Park Society. Mildred enjoyed golfing and played until the age of 92. She also enjoyed bingo, card playing, puzzles, walking and visiting, baking and sewing. Mildred is survived by her daughter Barbara (Walter) Rehberg of Urbandale, daughter Beverly (Leon) Root of Latimer, son Allan (Becky) Menning of Hampton; sister Matilda "Tillie" Nelsen of Hampton, brother Raymond Kracht of Dows, brother Marvin (Carole) Kracht of Hampton; grandchildren Kari (Allen) Mundy, Tonya Root, Heather (Brian) Hahn, Melissa (Chad) Simmons, and Kacie (Brandon) Bonjour; great grandchildren Aisha (Jax) Booth, Erin Root, Aiden Zimmerman, Jonathan Simmons, Jessica Simmons, Camden Bonjour, and Griffin Bonjour. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester Menning and sister Elfrieda Pralle. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel United Church of Christ in Latimer or the Latimer Golf Club.
