She met and married a fellow Elmhurst resident, William E. O'Brien and the couple moved to Georgia where she worked for Shell Oil and Gas. The couple ultimately retired in Florida, until her husband's passing in 2012, when Pat returned to New Jersey to live with her son and daughter. Pat was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Wharton, NJ, a member of the Red Hat Society in Dunnellon, FL, and a member of St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church; she was a devout Catholic, who enjoyed her family, her grandchildren, the grand-dogs that lived with her - Quincy, Morgan and Grogan, playing bridge, solitaire and any crime show on television. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Barbara (10 years old). Surviving Pat, are her daughter, Susan (O'Brien) Parnes and her husband, Kenneth Parnes, of Toms River, NJ; son, Kevin Patrick O'Brien and his wife, Lisa, of Skillman, NJ; five grandchildren, twins - Anna and Grace O'Brien, and Michael O'Brien of Guilford, CT; Jake and Lindsay Bouldin of Skillman, NJ; a brother, Joseph Grogan and a sister-in-law, Margaret O'Brien, both of Queens; and a niece, Maryann (O'Brien) Fontana of Long Island, NY. A celebration of Pat's life will be held at 1 P.M. Monday, January 10th, 2022 at St. Charles Borromeo, 47 Skillman Road, Skillman, NJ. The family will welcome friends and family prior to the service at 12:30 P.M. directly at the church. A private interment service will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Woodside, Queens at a future date. In lieu of flowers, as well as those who wish to remember Pat, may send a donation made in her memory directly to either St. Charles Borromeo or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
