Robert Paul Rist, 74, Minot, ND, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND.  Robert Paul Rist was born August 30, 1947 in Manhattan KS, the son of James Jr and Eloise (Christenson) Rist. His family moved back to Velva from Manhattan after his father passed away in 1954.  Bob was raised and educated in Velva, ND and worked for the Velva public schools as a custodian. He was previously married to the mother of his two oldest children, Robert Shawn Rist of Bismarck, ND and Kristi (Rist) Jenson of Calgary, Canada. After his divorce he moved to Minot, ND where he went to trade school to learn boiler systems and was employed at Minot Public Schools until he retired in 2009.  Bob met Coleen Bechtold in Gold Nugget Trailer court in Minot and they married in August 1981. In 1987, they adopted Cory Rist at 3 days old. Bob loved to take Cory for long walks down the bump by the river when he got to be about 4 years old. He enjoyed it when Kristi and Robert would come visit.  In later years Bob would spend weeks a time with Kristi and her family in Canada.  They enjoyed swimming, nights by the fire pit, chatting and laughing with his granddaughters.  He also would spend time fishing with his son Robert out on the boat.  Robert Paul Rist was a member of Apostolic Faith Church and obeyed Acts 2:38 by being baptized in Jesus Name and received the Holy Ghost in 1988. After smoking for 30 years he layed his cigarettes on the altar during a 30 day revival and never picked them up again after God delivered him at that time. Bob helped his wife Coleen for approximately 7 years picking up kids on the bus for Sunday school. He also loved to help the guys pick up trash and take it out to burn at church camp at Buffalo Lake. He helped out when the new church was built on 19th Avenue NW.  Bob enjoyed fishing, feeding the birds and watching them through the window from his chair in the living room, he loved to read, talking to people, doing yard work and he spent a lot if time chasing the squirrels out of the back yard, but he really didn't enjoy that so much. His loving family includes: Coleen (Bechtold) Rist of 40 years, Minot, ND; children, Kristi (Rist) and former husband Dave Jenson; Calgary Canada, Robert Sean Rist, Bismarck, ND; Cory (Tiffany) Rist Minot, ND, grandchildren, Kiara, Klorissa and Drew Jenson, Calgary, Canada; sister in law,  Norma Jean Rist Velva, ND and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
