Victoria Agatha Sevigny Obituary

It is with saddened hearts that the family of Victoria Agatha Sevigny of Cold Lake, Alberta announces her peaceful passing surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the age of 85 years.

Victoria was born on February 3, 1936 at Liebenthal, SK to Joseph & Anna Wist.  Victoria was the oldest of twelve children.  Victoria will be forever remembered and loved by her nine children: Lucille (Bob) Boisvert, Mariann (Dwayne) Deibert, Raymond (Chris) Sevigny, Valerie (Wayne) Peterson, Wanda (Rick) Kleiss, Harvey (Karen) Sevigny, Douglas (Crystal) Sevigny, Susan (Blaine) McMillin, Lionel Sevigny; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Victoria is also lovingly remembered by her sisters: Rose, Beatrice, Carol, Imelda, Aquina; brothers: Andy & Alex and their families.

Victoria is predeceased by her husband: Jean, parents: Joseph & Anna Wist; brother: Mike; sisters: Martina, Lavina & Elaine; grandson: Jared; daughter-in-law: Phyllis.

Jean & Victoria and their nine children lived on the Sevigny family farm until 1974, when they moved to Grand Centre.  Victoria lovingly cared for her family then decided that she would like to babysit as she had a love for babies.  This was the perfect fit. She could stay at home and take care of babies and kids at the same time.  All the children called her Grandma and loved her very much.  When Jean retired in 1994 they moved to Taber, followed by their final move to Lethbridge.  After Jean passed away in November of 2019, Victoria decided to move back to Cold Lake to be closer to all her children and grandchildren.

Victoria loved camping, to garden and sew, staying up many a late night burning the midnight oil.

Victoria’s favorite pastime was to listen to old time country music.  Some of her favorites were Charley Pride, Don Williams, Wilf Carter, Franky Yankovich.  She loved to reminisce of all the dances she had gone to as a young woman and young wife.  When visiting Victoria she loved to tell stories of her younger years growing up.  Being the oldest of 12 she helped on the family farm and took care of her younger siblings.  Victoria would go help other families by caring for their children and doing household chores.

Private Funeral Service, by invitation only on Monday, December 6, 2021 at Assumption Roman Catholic Church, Cold Lake, AB with Father Thomas Dieu Nguyen officiating.  Victoria will be laid to eternal rest beside Jean in Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge, AB.

A recording of the service will be available within 48 hours of the service date.

Memorial tributes in memory of Victoria may be sent to a charity of one’s choice.
