Terry James Doonan, age 98, left this world on November 29, 2021 and his life left this world a better place. He looked out for others, whether making pancakes for hungry grandchildren or for the Lions club; playing Santa for special needs children; helping Italian friends after the devastation of WWII; and with a special talent of getting others to open their wallets for good causes.  He was an ardent Packer Backer (his last smile was at their win over the Rams), golfer, and lover of parties. Formerly of Cold Spring, Minnesota (and fifteen other places), Terry resided in Sun City West, Arizona with a summer home in Cable, Wisconsin.

Born in Wausau, Wisconsin on March 4th, 1923, Terry grew up in Owen before starting college at River Falls. In September of 1942 Terry enlisted in the Army Signal Corp in Wisconsin and served in Italy and North Africa.  After three years at war, he was honorably discharged and able to return home, marry, graduate, and begin a lifetime career with Mobil Oil Corporation.

Terry is preceded in death by parents William and C. Vi (Ekren); first wife, Beth (Davis), two baby boys; second wife, Lee (Brown Inglis); and stepson Bill Inglis. He is survived by special companion, Marjorie Duff; by daughters Nanci Dixon (Jimmie), Judy Doonan-Twohy (Joe), and Kate Doonan (Mike Kopacek); grandchildren Beth Twohy, Patrick Twohy (Liz), Jimmie Dixon Jr., and Jeremy Dixon; great-grandsons Amari, William, and James; and the “Inglis Clan” Gretchen, Jane, Jill, and Jack. Terry literally had hundreds of friends, many who are waiting to greet him. Special thanks to Hospice of the Valley (Sarah, Sam and Kristen) and caregivers Adriana, Lesley, Linda, Pauline and Sandy.

Memorial Scripture Service will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 19002 N. 128th Ave, Sun City West, AZ 85375 on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 10:00 am.
