David Harlan Obituary

David Earl Harlan, 70, of Hampton, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. He was born on August 25, 1951, in Hampton, to Neil and Minnie (Winther) Harlan. David graduated from West High School in Waterloo. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. David loved to work. He previously worked alongside his brother Bruce at Harlan's DX station in Hampton, worked for various stations throughout the United States, and more recently he worked for RailCrew Xpress in Mason City. On his free time, David enjoyed country and bluegrass music, Harley Davidson Motorcycles, and attending car shows. He also liked to play cards and participate in cribbage tournaments. David was a hardworking, kindhearted, quick witted, jovial man. David is survived by his son David Johnathan Harlan of Hampton, sister Georgia Harlan of Dumont, brother Dwight (Mickie) Harlan of Fertile, nephew Eric Banse of Renwick, along with numerous other nieces, nephews and family. He was preceded in death by his parents Neil and Minnie, brothers Michael and Bruce, sister Neilla, and infant son Quentin. Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.
