Loette "Let" Kaye Sheppard Obituary

Loette (Let) Kaye Sheppard, 74, of Hedgesville passed away at Winchester Medical Center Monday, November 29, 2021 after losing her battle with lung cancer and COVID. Born August 22, 1947 in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late George Mallory Turner (1904-1977) and Pearl Virginia (Myers) Turner (1911-1973). She is survived by one daughter Dianna G. Braithwaite and one son Charles A. Sheppard (Tony) Hedgesville, two grandchildren (who she adored) Jenna G. Braithwaite and Dylan Braithwaite both of Hedgesville. She was of the Presbyterian faith and attended Providence Church in Hedgesville as a young child. She graduated from Hedgesville High School in 1965. She was a lifelong resident of Hedgesville. Let work many years in the garment industry, worked as a flagger for several years and then opened and operated (along with her husband), Sheppard’s Mini Mart until its closing. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved reading and going to the beach every year with her daughter and grandchildren. She was a big fan of Elvis and his music and was able to visit Graceland when her son Tony took her. She is also survived by one sister Lana F. Barrick of Hedgesville who she was very close with, and several nieces and nephews. Three sisters in law, Norma Turner, Tina Turner, and Edna Ketterman of Frederick, Maryland and a very good friend Sherry Rankin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Charles C. Sheppard "Shep" (November 17, 2012); two brothers, Donald Winston Turner (1941-2001) and Robert Mallory Turner (1942-2007); two sisters, Louise Virginia Butts (1937-2013) and Linda Francis Barrick (1944-2015). Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home. Services will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 11:00AM at the funeral home with Pastor Jack Rudy officiating. Let will be laid to rest at Tomahawk Presbyterian Church by her son Tony Sheppard, Grandson Dylan Braithwaite, and nephews John (Dougie) Barrick, Matthew Barrick, Joe Turner, and David Turner.
