Helene F Traill Obituary

Helene Traill
Obituary & Funeral Service Information

Barrington, NH - Helene F. Traill, 58, of Province Road passed away Sunday November 28, 2021 at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover after a short illness.

Helene loved to be outdoors in nature viewing and interacting with all of God’s creation which included all of the wildlife and of course her gardens of flowers and vegetables. One of her deepest passions though was the close relationship that she shared with our Labrador retrievers. All five of them thoroughly enjoyed Helene’s unconditional love and care over the past twenty three years. She also enjoyed playing the guitar and loved flying with her husband all over New England, and even took to skydiving for a brief time. She also took interest in motorcycle riding and was active in Bicycle Touring throughout the New Hampshire Seacoast for many years and enjoyed sewing up a storm when the mood hit!

Also worth mentioning is that Helene’s first love is her Lord and Savior. Her love for Christ started early as a young teenager when she attended the Lynnfield St. Baptist Church in Lynn, MA in the mid to late 70’s and then again in the late 80’s, where she and her husband where married. Her commitment, devotion and focus to servanthood took hold after this and continued throughout her life as she grew in her relationship with God and Christ. Over the years she was involved in many church activities and held positions as a Deaconess and Youth Group Director here in New Hampshire. Anyone who knew Helene could see that she thoroughly enjoyed doing the Lord’s work in the ministries assigned to her and that she accomplished them with great enthusiasm and vigor.

One of Helene’s most notable accomplishments was her nursing career. She just crossed the 30 year mark as a Registered Nurse and like everything else that she did, she was completely committed to the task at hand, which was to provide her patients with the utmost care and compassion. She would often receive feedback over the course of her career regarding her care and character in the form of letters and cards. These confirming that she was well loved and that she made a lasting impression on her patients while administering to their needs to the highest degree.

For family, friends, church members and co-workers throughout her life, Helene will be sorely missed. She had a big heart for everyone and conducting her life accordingly, putting others first before her own needs and desires. As one family member wrote, “She was a truly special person who touched the lives of many.” How true indeed. She led by example with noble actions and yet with a humble heart and a caring demeanor. I believe that we can all learn from the lasting memories that she provided for us.

Helene is survived by her parents Bill and Janice Griggs, her husband Scott Traill of Barrington, NH one brother; David Griggs of Florida, one sister in law; Tami Nicewicz and her husband John of Boxford, MA, a mother in law; Carol Jerome and her husband William of Georgia, many aunts and uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins and our beloved yellow Labrador Kayla.

Services will be held on April 2, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Greater Rochester, located at 25 Church Street, Rochester, NH. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, which will be followed by a Memorial Service starting at 11:00am. There will be a reception following the service at the Governor’s Inn, 78 Wakefield Street, Rochester, NH starting at 1:00pm (603-332-0107).

In lieu of flowers, Helene’s family is following her request by asking that donations be made to the Guiding Eyes For The Blind foundation. This well established organization raises and trains Labrador Retrievers to be used as service dogs for people who are blind. Their website can be located at: www.guidingeyes.org
