Wei Ji Wu

Wei-Ji passed away in peace at his daughter’s home in Waldoboro, Maine on November 30th, 2021. He was born on October 18th, 1935 in Shanghai, China. He studied pharmacology at Primary Medical University of Shanghai where he met his wife Wen-Rong Zhang. After graduation, he worked for Fuzhou Pharmaceutical Inc. in Fujian China, and quickly rose up in ranks to become the leader of the company. In the late 70s, Wei-Ji relocated to Wuxi, China and served as the director of the Wuxi Pharmaceutical Research Institute. Wei-Ji moved to Boston in the late 80s to be close to his family. He worked at Spaulding Hospital pharmacy in Cambridge MA for twenty years. Wei-ji was a devoted husband and a loving father and grandfather. He was the pillar of strength for his family, working hard to give his wife and two daughters the best life he could. He always played with his grandson after work like a big brother; accompanied his grandson in Boston Science Museum for summer classes. He always helped his friends and neighbors. Anyone who knew Wei-ji was touched by his kindness and generosity. His loving heart left a beacon of light for all in the community. Wei-Ji is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wen-Rong Zhang of Malden, Massachusetts; daughter Ming Rawstron of Waldoboro, Maine; and grandson Benjamin Rawstron of Boston, Massachusetts; daughter Ping Wu and son-in-law Peter Gu of Acton, Massachusetts. His cheerful attitude and bright smile will be missed by his family and friends. Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, 949 Main Street, Waldoboro.
