A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Gwendolyn “Gwen” Wilson on Friday, December 3, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Fr. Neil Pettit will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.

Gwen, age 70, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at her home with her beloved dog Cotton at her side.

Gwen had a zest for life, she loved dancing and having fun with family and friends. Gwen enjoyed playing cards and games, such as Yahtzee. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sisters, Brenda Brasseaux (Getty) and Cindy Pitre; sister-in-law, Sylvia Roberie; nephews, Andrew Roberie, Dwayne Roberie (Rhonda), Lonnie Roberie, Michael Roberie (Sammye) Lance Roberie (Renee), Kyle Pitre (Shonette) and Shawn Fontenot.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph John Wilson; parents, Roy and Wilda Roberie; brother, Larry Roberie, niece, Lisa Pitre; and brother-in-law, Ronald Pitre.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. by Deacon Dwayne Joubert.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Fontenot, Dwayne Roberie, Michael Roberie, Lance Roberie and Kyle Pitre. Honorary pallbearers will be Lonnie Roberie, Andrew Roberie and Austin Pitre.
