<p>Alice Charlene (Crenshaw) Schoenfeldt, 91, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Forest Creek Senior Center in Overland Park, KS.&nbsp;</p> <p>Charlene was born August 3, 1930 in Cardin, Oklahoma. She graduated from Tulsa Central High School and Tulsa University. She married Emil C Schoenfeldt on August 31, 1952 in Denver, CO while Emil served in the Air Force. They moved to George Air Force base in Victorville, CA&nbsp; where Edward (Dutch) was born in 1953. Son Nicholas (Nick) was born in Independence in 1956. Their daughter Susan was born in Independence in 1967.</p> <p>While living in Independence, Charlene was very active in the Presbyterian Church and started the church&rsquo;s first preschool there. She was a member of Chapter EF PEO in Independence.&nbsp; She was an avid reader, gardener, and artist. Charlene enjoyed playing bridge and golf, as well as creating elaborate Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren.&nbsp;</p> <p>Charlene and Emil lived in Independence from 1954 until 2003 except for the nearly 4 years spent in Alaska. In 2003, they moved to Pittsburg, KS. In 2021, Charlene moved to the Forest Creek Senior Center in Overland Park, KS.</p> <p>Charlene is survived by her brothers Bob Crenshaw of Glendale, AZ and Jim Crenshaw of Orlando, FL.</p> <p>Charlene is also survived by her son Edward (Dutch) and his wife Melinda of Muncie, IN, son John Nicholas (Nick) of St Louis, MO, and daughter Susan Baden and her husband Rick of Olathe, KS.&nbsp;</p> <p>Charlene is also survived by ten grandchildren, Michael Schoenfeldt (wife Erin), Matthew Schoenfeldt (wife Aimee), Katie Schoenfeldt Sullivan (husband Jon), Ashley Petersen (husband Ben), Skylar Kim (husband Matt), Sierra Sicolo (husband Marco), Zach Baden, Emily Baden Hinrichs (husband Nick), Alli Baden, and Maddie Baden, and eleven great grandchildren.</p> <p>Charlene was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Amy (Barnett) Crenshaw, her husband of 53 years Emil, her sisters Beulah and Donna, and her brother John.</p> <p>The family will receive friends and family on December 10, 2021, from 9:00-10:00am at Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. A graveside service will follow at Independence Mount Hope Cemetery at 10:30am. A short memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Independence beginning at 11:30am.&nbsp;</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church of Independence for youth programs, the Pittsburg, KS YMCA, or your favorite charity.</p>

Alice Charlene (Crenshaw) Schoenfeldt, 91, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Forest Creek Senior Center in Overland Park, KS. 

Charlene was born August 3, 1930 in Cardin, Oklahoma. She graduated from Tulsa Central High School and Tulsa University. She married Emil C Schoenfeldt on August 31, 1952 in Denver, CO while Emil served in the Air Force. They moved to George Air Force base in Victorville, CA  where Edward (Dutch) was born in 1953. Son Nicholas (Nick) was born in Independence in 1956. Their daughter Susan was born in Independence in 1967.

While living in Independence, Charlene was very active in the Presbyterian Church and started the church’s first preschool there. She was a member of Chapter EF PEO in Independence.  She was an avid reader, gardener, and artist. Charlene enjoyed playing bridge and golf, as well as creating elaborate Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren. 

Charlene and Emil lived in Independence from 1954 until 2003 except for the nearly 4 years spent in Alaska. In 2003, they moved to Pittsburg, KS. In 2021, Charlene moved to the Forest Creek Senior Center in Overland Park, KS.

Charlene is survived by her brothers Bob Crenshaw of Glendale, AZ and Jim Crenshaw of Orlando, FL.

Charlene is also survived by her son Edward (Dutch) and his wife Melinda of Muncie, IN, son John Nicholas (Nick) of St Louis, MO, and daughter Susan Baden and her husband Rick of Olathe, KS.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Amy (Barnett) Crenshaw, her husband of 53 years Emil, her sisters Beulah and Donna, and her brother John.

The family will receive friends and family on December 10, 2021, from 9:00-10:00am at Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. A graveside service will follow at Independence Mount Hope Cemetery at 10:30am. A short memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Independence beginning at 11:30am. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church of Independence for youth programs, the Pittsburg, KS YMCA, or your favorite charity.
