Aaron VanDyke Sr. February 16, 1958 - November 28, 2021 Middletown, NY Aaron VanDyke Sr, 63 years old, a lifelong resident of Middletown, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on November 28, 2021 after a long battle with end stage renal disease. Aaron was born in Middletown, NY on February 16, 1958 to parents Gerald and Eleanor VanDyke. After graduating from Middletown High School, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served our country for a number of years. Aaron was a devout father, grandfather and friend. “OG” as he was often referred to was the neighborhood dad and “BBQ King”, and loved cooking for anyone who could eat. Aaron also had a love for sports that ran deep. Basketball and football being among his favorites- he was a member of the Middletown Men’s basketball league, and was a die hard NY Giants fan. Aaron also enjoyed coaching children, and when he wasn’t coaching, he was on the sideline with a video camera capturing those moments. He was also an avid fisherman, and instilled that love for fishing not only to his children, but grandchildren as well. Aaron was a great man, who made a difference in many people’s lives, and will be forever missed. He leaves behind his children; Ebony, Lauren, Aaron Jr. (Jennifer), Keshan (Safaa), Justin (Taylor), Jason (Sonja), Daija, and Diamind, siblings; Alan, Barry (Brenda), Denise (Jeff), Margaret, Phyllis, Rose, Yolanda (Raymond), Gerald, Tom (Michelle), and Wayne, grandchildren; Amari, Aneesa, Janiyah, Jacob, Julianna, Adryannah, Mariah, Gabriella, Marcus, Alia, Hamza, Mila, Adrian, Blake, Quinn, Noah, Carter, and Royalty, ex-wife Carol and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased in passing by his parents Gerald and Eleanor, Mother-in-law Naomi, siblings; Geraldine, Eric and Angela, sister-in-law Donna, niece LaToya and nephew Marcus. The funeral service will be held at Applebee-McPhillips funeral home, 130 Highland Ave Middletown, NY 10940, on Friday December 3, 2021. Viewing will take place from 10am - 12pm, services from 12pm - 1pm, and burial to follow at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Craigville Rd, Goshen NY, 10924
