Dale Weyand Obituary

Dale Weyand, age 61, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. Dale was born on March 29, 1960 to Fred Weyand and Gaye Davis Weyand in Dallas, Texas. He attended St. Mark’s School of Texas from kindergarten to twelfth grade. It was at St. Mark’s where Dale excelled as a student athlete and created lifelong memories that he would later share with his family. Dale was a proud alumnus of the University of the South where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. After receiving his undergraduate degree, Dale attended St. Mary’s Law School in San Antonio, Texas. Little did he know then, but his time at St. Mary’s Law School would establish San Antonio as the Weyand family’s stomping grounds. Dale married his high school sweetheart Jamie in 1984. They then welcomed three children, Christopher, Natalie, and Emily, into the world. Dale was a highly involved parent in the lives of his three children. He spent countless hours coaching all three children and their friends in too many sports to count. He had a special connection, however, to the Alamo Heights Little League. On any given weeknight, you could find Dale, styrofoam cup in hand, balancing the two teams he coached for his daughters, while also taking care of any necessary task to keep the little league fields running smoothly. On Sundays, Dale would make his way to Alamo Heights United Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher. He was well-known for his bag of candy that he brought with him to reward his students who could recite a memorized Bible verse. Dale was dedicated to ensuring that the Word of God was at the forefront of every lesson he taught. As his children grew up, Dale continued to support each of them in all of their endeavors. He was always ready to assist on any school project, he moved his children into college dorms, he challenged his children to dream big and take risks, and he never missed a game. Dale was always our “Coach,” and in the past few years, that name took on a whole new meaning as he was belovedly referred to as “Coach” by his three grandsons, Houston, Greyson, and Hale. Though his family is saddened by his passing, they will never forget his thoughtful spirit, his lightheartedness, and his distinct whistle! He was preceded in death by his parents Fred Weyand and Gaye Davis Weyand. Dale is survived by his son, Chris (Leigh) Weyand and his daughters, Natalie Weyand and Emily Weyand; grandsons, Houston, Greyson, and Hale Weyand; as well as his children’s mother, Jamie Weyand. He is also survived by his brothers, Fred and Glenn Weyand; his sister Susan Sharp; and several nieces and nephews. Not to be forgotten are his beloved dogs and loyal companions, Melba and Murphy.
