POWNAL- James Francis Dickie, 74, A lifelong resident of Route 7 in Pownal, passed away at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington following a brief illness. <br><br>Born April 15, 1947 in North Adams, Massachusetts, James was the son of the late James B.M. and Catherine (Humphries) Dickie. He received his early education in Williamstown, MA, and graduated from Greylock Regional High School. Following graduation, James served in the United States Army for three years during the Vietnam War era. On September 7, 1979 James married the former Jeanne Filiault in Clarksburg, Massachusetts.<br><br>James worked as a maintenance and equipment serviceman at Steinerfilm in Williamstown, MA, for over 30 years. After retiring from Steinerfilm, he was able to keep busy by working as a driver for Green Mountain Express in Bennington. <br><br>James was a past commander of the American Legion Post 90 in Pownal. He and Jeanne enjoyed many summers in Hinsdale, New Hampshire, where they had a seasonal site for their RV. James also loved gardening and landscaping his property.<br><br>James is survived by his wife Jeanne Dickie, his two daughters; Tammy Niedzinski and Holly Haas, four grandchildren; William, Katie, Michaela, and Jessica, a brother-in-law John Filiault (Carol), two special nephews; Jon and Jared Filiault, many cousins in the Pownal-Bennington area and two special friends Nancy and Buz Reusch.<br><br>At the request of the family, there will be no services for James.<br><br>If friends should desire, contributions in memory of James Dickie may be made to the 2nd Chance Animal Shelter, through the office of the E.P. Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington Vermont 05201.
