<p>Manuel J. &ldquo;Valie&rdquo; Salaiz, 94, of San Juan went to his heavenly home on Friday, November 26, surrounded by his loving family.</p> <p>Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 10 am on Monday, December 6, 2021 at San Juan Catholic&nbsp;Church led by Ricky Sedillos.&nbsp; The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11 am also at San Juan Catholic Church with Father Casmir Anozie, officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow at the San Juan Cemetery where he will be laid next to rest with his wife, Frances.&nbsp; Serving as pallbearers will be Ruben Salaiz, Benny Dominguez, Ruben Castillo, Jorge Ramirez, Ruby Misquez, and Lorenza Chacon.</p> <p>&ldquo;Valie as he was affectionately known was born in San Juan, NM to Jose and Anastacia Salaiz and was raised by his grandmother, Josefa Jimenez.&nbsp; At a young age he went on to serve and defend his country serving honorably in the United States Army in the 6<sup>th</sup> Engineer Combat Battalion in Korea as a Heavy Weapons Crewman and Medic.&nbsp; He had received the WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal.&nbsp; Manuel returned and worked at Kennecott Copper as an oiler.&nbsp; Valie will be missed by all his family and those who knew him.</p> <p>Manuel is survived by three daughters, Rose Holguin (Albert), Linda Ann Salaiz, Sarah Rodriguez; one son, Armando Salaiz (Lorenza Chacon); one brother, Bernabel Salaiz; two sisters, Aurelia Cordova, and Elisa Gonzales (Tomas); grandchildren, Gabriel, Adrian Dakota, Shantelle, Sabrina Maureen, Savannah Alize, and step grandchildren Sandra and Alex; great grandchildren, Gabriel Aiden, Mariella, Annayensi, Yaremi, Joshua Jade, Arizona Alice, and step great grandchild, Angelina.&nbsp; Valie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Frances, grandmother Josepha Jimenez; great grandson, Baby Julian; brothers, Joe, Gabriel and Robert Salaiz; sisters, Clorinda Vigil (Ernesto), Guadalupe Dominguez, Clara Baca (Pete) and a son-in-law, Gabriel M. Rodriguez.</p>
