Eggleston Carlyle Elliott, Jr.

Eggleston Carlyle “E.C.” Elliott, Jr. of Danville, Virginia, went home to be with his Lord on November 30, 2021, at the age of 85. He was born on August 9, 1936, to the late Josephine Ingram Elliott and the late Eggleston C. Elliott, Sr. in Danville, Virginia. He is survived by the love of his life Gladys Jane Holley Elliott who he met in the first grade and was married to for 67 years. E.C. was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Schewels Furniture Company as store manager for the South Hill and Danville locations for 42 years and later served as corporate manager. In addition to his wife, E.C. is survived by his daughters Donna Elliott Dalton of Dry Fork, Virginia, and Denise A. Elliott Davis (Jerry “J.W.”) of Dry Fork, Virginia; his brother Jerry L. Elliott (Joyce) of Sanford, North Carolina; his brother-in-law Ray Emerson, Sr.; his sisters-in-law Shelby H. Shelton (Norman) and Nancy H. King (Gary); his grandchildren Jessica Curtis Pearce (Keith) and Amanda Lauren Dalton; his great-grandson Curtis K. Pearce; his special friends Amber and Tom Denny; his granddogs Baby and Sissy; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Diane K. Elliott Curtis, his sister LaVera E. Emerson, his brother Paul Elliott, his half-sisters Florence Betterton and Marie Cox, and his half-brother Calvin Elliott. E.C. was a hard worker from an early age having to care for his mother and baby sister and brother after his dad’s early death. E.C. was only fifteen years old at the time. He ran his dad’s furniture store along with his mother. His love for the furniture industry continued when he accepted a job at Schewel’s. He worked long nights to provide a perfect life for his wife and three girls, “the 3 D’s” Diane, Donna, and Denise, as he referred to them often. E.C. had the most beautiful smile and friendly voice and was always the epitome of a true gentleman. He always opened the door and pulled the chair out to seat his precious “Boots”. Their love was evident to anyone that knew them. E.C. will be remembered as someone that never said a bad word about anyone and who always thought of others first. He said the most beautiful prayers and always included at the end of each one, “We pray for the sick and suffering, the lonely and brokenhearted, and all that is due to be prayed for. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Norris Funeral Services’ Mt Hermon Chapel with Reverend Stephen White officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. Memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Norris Funeral Services, Inc. & Crematory, Mt.
