Obituary
JoAnn G. (Namaka) Sugden, 78, of Woonsocket, died November 30, 2021, at her home. She was the wife of the late Paul Sugden Jr., whom she married on June 20, 1964. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Edith (Dunford) Namaka. JoAnn worked as an elementary teacher for over 40 years, for the Lincoln and Woonsocket School Systems. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma International and the Order of the Eastern Star. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Dr. Nadeem's Office in the Landmark Cancer Center for their care. She is survived by her children, Kimberley Sugden and Paul Sugden III, both of Woonsocket; two sisters, Nancy Smith of Odessa, FL and Debra Shakan of Glendale; three grandchildren, Ryan Badeau and his wife, Brittany, Alexander Badeau and his wife, Jessica and Victoria Fleuette and her husband, Jamie; and four great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Leah and Alexander Badeau and Allison Dawes. Her funeral will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021 with a service at 10 AM in St. James Episcopal Church, 24 Hamlet Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Friday, from 5-7PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Landmark Cancer Center, 116 Eddie Dowling Hwy., North Smithfield, RI 02896.
