James Peltier Obituary

James A Peltier, 85, of Fremont, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 27, 2021, at 10 AM prior to the start of the Ohio State Buckeyes versus Michigan Wolverines football game. Unfortunately, Jim must have known that the Buckeyes were going to lose so he just couldn’t watch. He was a lifetime fan of his alma mater, “The Ohio State University” Buckeyes. Jim was born on September 29, 1936, in Huron Ohio to James and Isabelle (Moyer) Peltier. He lived in Ohio his entire life. He graduated from OSU in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. He was employed by Standard Products as a Purchasing Supervisor and retired in 1995. He was a member of the Monroeville Model Railroad Club and loved his trains and attending club shows with his friends. He also loved tractors, as seen from his collection, especially John Deere. At his home in Fremont, he enjoyed his garden, growing corn and potatoes among others every year. He also had apple and pear trees (even though he didn’t like pears). There was also never a tomato that came out of his garden. He is preceded in death by his parents and many other relatives. Surviving Jim are his only son, Keith (Katie) Peltier of Poplar WI and his four grandchildren; Keith (Kap) Peltier Jr. of Jacksonville NC, Kevin (Greta) Peltier of Pequot Lakes MN, Kayla (Dave) Schnurrer of Superior WI, and Kristle (Trevor) Rono of Backus MN; great-grandchildren; brother John Peltier of Akron OH and sister Linda Reitz of Sandusky OH; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and an extensive list of much loved friends. Graveside services for Jim will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 3, 2021 at Catawba Island Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH by Pastor Chuck Kaylor. Memorial contributions in memory of Jim may be given in care of the family. The Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
