Mrs. Nancy L. Smith of Newark, Arkansas departed this life on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the age of 77. She was born November 7, 1944 in Newport, the daughter of Chester and Froney (Hunter) Jones.<br/> Mrs. Smith was a homemaker, and an excellent cook. She was an avid reader, who especially enjoyed reading old books. Mrs. Smith delighted in her grandchildren, and loved spending time with them, and taking care of them.<br/> She was selfless and kind, and spent many an hour as a volunteer. She and her husband built and worked an Outreach Center, where they offered help to any who had need. Mrs. Smith ministered to prisoners, and was a true believer in the power of prayer. She was a prayer warrior, who prayer her family through every difficult moment.<br/> Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents; Chester and Froney Jones; and her siblings, Chester (Charlotte) Jones, Earl (Janice) Jones, Bobby (Ruth) Jones, Dickey Jones, Patsy (Ollis) Largent, and Jack Jones.<br/> She is survived by her husband, Tom Smith of Newark; one son, CSM Mark Timothy Smith and wife, Michelle of Grafenwohr, Bavaria, Germany; one daughter, Dena Wolverton and husband, Greg, of Newark; three grandchildren, Jack King and wife, Brittney of Newport, Alex Smith of Newark, and Jesse King and Allen of Newark; one brother, Marcus Jones and wife Mary of Mountain View; one sister-in-law, Sue Jones of North Little Rock; three great-grandchildren, Keegan King, Sara King, and Piper King; several nieces, nephews; and a lifetime of friends.<br/> Friends may visit at the funeral home, Thursday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Friday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Blue Springs Cemetery.<br/> Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Mark Smith, Marcus Jones, Jesse King, Jack King, Alex Smith, and Greg Wolverton.<br/> Arrangements by Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.<br/> www.jacksonsfh.com<br/>
