SAVOIE, ALFRED JOSEPH - (1926-2021), It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Alfred Joseph Savoie, which occurred at Turnbull Nursing Home on Monday, November 29, 2021.

Born in Pointe-Sapin, he was the son of the late Fred and Melina (Bordage) Savoie. Alfred is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Florence (Robichaud) who is currently at Turnbull Nursing home, his sister Christina Dugas (Euclide) of Irishtown, daughter Muriel (Grattan) Cosman, son Roger (Heather) Savoie and 3 wonderful grandsons, Alex Savoie, Brandon Cosman (Phoebe Quilitano) and Justin Cosman (Courtney Halsall). He was predeceased by his parents and five brothers, Alyre, Joseph, Yvon, Antoine and Arthur and infant Ovila, one sister Marguerite Meunier.

Alfred retired from Ocean Steel after many years of working as a Steel Fitter. He was also a member of the K of C Council 6770, and the 30 & Up Club on the West Side, where him and Florence loved to gather with friends and dance the night away. In the summers, he so enjoyed his summer home in St. Charles, where he and Florence made so many special memories spending time with Florence’s siblings and their spouses as well as seeing his own family in Pointe-Sapin. Friendships that lasted a lifetime. He will be remembered for his kindness, always willing to help someone in need and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the Turnbull Nursing Home for their compassion and care given to Alfred during his days as a resident. Alfred accompanied his wife Florence to the nursing home together and he could be found by her side every day, holding her hand and comforting her. True love to the end.

Arrangements have been made by Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd, Saint John. A gathering to celebrate Alfred with family and friends will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM followed by a Service of Remembrance at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Due to COVID-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings, all those 12 and older attending the visitation or funeral will be required to wear masks, show proof of vaccination and a piece of government issued ID.

Donations to the Alzheimer's Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your personal choice would be appreciated by the family.

July 29, 1926 - November 29, 202107/29/192611/29/2021

Dan looked up to Alfred when he was a child. Forever grateful for the kindness he showed by taking Dan into his loving home and taking care of him as one of his own. He will be greatly missed. RIP Alfred
