James P. Morgan Sr. Joliet, Illinois Obituary

Jim

James P. Morgan Sr. After living on this earth for 99 years Jim Morgan decided to leave us on November 28, 2021. He left peacefully. His final day was spent wheeling around and talking to staff. He loved to brag about being almost 100. He spent his final day doing what he did best, talking with people. Jim was a WWII war hero completing 35 missions in a B-17 over Germany and German occupied France in just 4 months, his last mission was on D-Day over France. After being discharged he met and married Joyce and had 5 children, Erlene (Jack) Saieg, Jim (Maggie), Gary (Launa), Guy (Diane), Dean. Dean, the youngest had a severe case of Cerebral Palsy. He lost his youngest son in 1978, Dean was only 20. He lost his wife Joyce of 60 years in 2005 but continued on. In 2015, he lost another son, Guy way too soon. No parent should have to bury even one child. After all this he survived. He survived because of the support and love of his family. He loved his family and friends, and his visits to Hospice before the Pandemic. There he would get his hugs from all the "young ladies" there. He went from independent living to a nursing home but kept his upbeat attitude and personality. We'll miss his humor, his crazy personality. his constant humming, his "nice day" that he would say every morning no matter what the weather was, and his love for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved going to Starbucks and having a morning Bun and just being around people. We love you, and miss you. A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home and Crematory, 2320 Black Road on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 12:00 Noon, with Chaplain Jim McGuire officiating. Inurnment and Full Military Honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. The family would appreciate flowers or a memorial in memory of their dad to the donor’s choice.
