Dorothy "Ann" Jordy

Ann Jordy passed away at her home with family by her side, now to be with Jesus in Heaven with a host of family and friends. She was born November 12, 1928 and departed this earth, November 29, 2021 at the age of ninety-three. Ann was born to Irene and Jonathan Samuel Collard in the piney woods of Walker County. At the age of three, her family moved to Jenkins in Madison County where they raised cotton and a garden, sold eggs and made molasses. She later attended school in Madisonville. She played baseball and helped create the first hardback school annual. She was very smart and was able to skip a grade in school. Ann was voted as "Most Courteous" her Senior year, 1947. At school, while she was decorating a Christmas tree, J.T. fell from the bleechers, while watching Ann. After her graduation from High School, they started dating and were later married November 22, 1947. They moved to Houston, then Pasadena and would up in Deer Park, Texas. They built a one-bedroom house on seventh street at a time where there were only two houses on the block. Ann had two daughters, Claudia and Laurie. Later, they built another house on sixth street. Ann was a baker at Deer Park ISD, plus, she received her beautician's license. After they both retired, J.T. & Ann moved back to Madison County and later built a house on Concord Road. Ann loved living close to family. She was preceded in death by husband, J.T. Jordy; daughter, Laurie; sisters, Marie Rice, Irene Bennett and brothers, Ed, Ottice, Hobo, Charlie and Clarence Collard. She is survived by daughter, Claudia "C.J." Tucker and husband, Paul; grandchildren, Karen Gouge & husband, Jason, Justin Abshire & wife, Katie and Austin Abshire, wife, Lindsay & Caitlyn and husband, Jackson Nelson; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Zackary, Mason, Emma, Aiden & Rylee; sister, Vergie Lucas; aunts, Darlene and Helen and numerous nieces & nephews. She is also survived by close neighbor & friend, Floy Smith. A special thank you goes to all who called and visited, sent cards and gifts to Ann for her birthday. Also, special thanks to Brother Tommy and Sister Donna for being available during rough times. Ann's siblings called her Nina, but she was mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren and great-grandmother. She made wonderful pies and cakes for her family and friends. Ann was always a kind, sweet person who loved to cook and especially loved her family. A graveside service honoring Ann's life will be held 2 P.M., Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Midway Cemetery. Rev. Beau Bevers will officiate the service. Pallbearers: Justin Abshire, Austin Abshire, Jimmy Collard, Gabriel Moss, Zachary Moss, Tommy Tucker Honorary Pallbearer: Eddie Collard, Wayne Collard Arrangements are under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
