Barbara Ann Rocchio August 15, 1939 - November 24, 2021 Hemlock Farms, PA Barbara Ann Rocchio, known to everyone as Bobbie, passed from this world on Wednesday, November 24 at Milford Health Care in PA. She was 82 years old. The eldest daughter of Joseph and Olga "Sandy" Plesnak Bliss, she was born on August 15, 1939 in Peckville, PA. After graduating from High School in Peckville, Bobbie attended Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ. At University, she met her future husband, Richard Rocchio. Bobbie and Rick had 3 children together before they separated. Bobbie worked as a Social Worker for Orange County, held many other part-time jobs, won Bingo prizes while finishing her college degree to support her children as they grew up. As a social worker, Bobbie provided therapy mainly focused on women’s issues. In 1977, her oldest daughter, Cheryl, was killed in an accident, which affected her deeply. Shortly after the loss of Cheryl, Bobbie met her lifetime partner, Howard Gittler. Bobbie and Howie spent nearly 45 years together sharing their love of each other and their affinity for spiritual pursuits. She loved to dance, gardening, spend time with family and friends, tell stories, and practice reiki. She taught spiritual classes, was a Reiki Master and served as a Spiritual Minister as she was gifted with psychic abilities. Although cooking was not her favorite activity, Bobbie always centered holiday celebrations around her famous pecan apple pie and olive cheeseballs, to the delight of her family and friends. Her artistic talents were evidenced in her sewing skills and imaginative photography. She held strong opinions and beliefs. She survived many losses and enjoyed many triumphs in her lifetime. Bobbie is survived by her daughter Abi Cielo and her wife Mari and their son Takodah of Huntington Station, NY; her son Stephen Rocchio and his wife Jodie and their children Grace, Carver and Ellis; her sister Carol and her family. She is survived by her devoted partner Howard Gittler of Hemlock Farms, PA and his family: his son Devin and his wife Renata, his daughter Tiffany and her daughter Brandi and her daughter, and his extended family, Lee and Michael, who all were family to Bobbie. In addition to her cherished daughter Cheryl and her parents, Bobbie was predeceased by her brother Gary and sister Patti. Cremation was private. A Celebration of Bobbie's life will be held on Saturday, January 22 at her home in Hemlock Farms. She will be laid to rest with Cheryl in Seamanville Cemetery in Monroe in the spring. Memorial contributions in Bobbie's name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation at alz.org The family wishes to acknowledge the special comfort and care Milford Health provided Bobbie in the last few years and to thank Howie for his dedication to Bobbie during her illness.
