<p>John Richard &ldquo;Dick&rdquo; Cleveland passed away at age 90 on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. Richard was born in Belle Chasse, LA and was the youngest child of the late Charles Cleveland and Virginia Keller Cleveland. He grew up on Alvin Callender Field in Belle Chasse and graduated from Belle Chasse High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army and&nbsp;serving his country in the Korean War as a corporal. Richard later earned his Bachelor&#39;s Degree in Chemistry from Tulane University. He worked and retired from Chevron Chemical Company/Oronite (Oak Point Plant) after 42 years as a chemist. Richard was a resident of Belle Chasse, Algiers, and Mandeville, LA. He loved aviation (including watching airplanes), spending time with his family, and running and playing golf in his earlier days. Richard was a loyal parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mandeville, and a member of Faith and Fun, and a Fourth Degree Knight with the Our Lady of the Lake Knights of Columbus Council No. 9240. He is preceded in death by his sisters Elizabeth Ott, Edna Szustak, Linda Butler, and Martha Blanchard and brothers Roy Cleveland, Charles Cleveland Jr and William Jerry Cleveland. Richard is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Marilyn Shambra Cleveland, daughters Lesley Lozes (Chris) and Kim Hamilton (Hugh), son Richard Cleveland, grandchildren Lindsey Lozes, Brett Lozes (Allison), Garrett Hamilton, Sean Lozes, and Bradley Hamilton. His family deeply appreciates all of his caregivers in recent years, including Tonie, Pat, Tammy, Ann, Linda, Cyna, Christina, Trina, and Lou, and Dr. Paul Guilbault for their compassion and kindness in taking care of Richard. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 312 Lafitte Street Mandeville, LA, followed by mass at 12:00 pm. Interment will be at Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of the Lake Knights of Columbus Council No. 9240 or&nbsp;St. Jude Children&#39;s Research Hospital in Richard&#39;s memory.
