Rowena Donkle Penley Jones, age 95, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. Born March 6, 1926 in Catawba County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Ernest M. and Era Ervin Donkle.

Rowena was involved in the hospitality industry along the Grand Strand for several decades, most recently at the Pier View Motel, which was located at 2nd Avenue North in Myrtle Beach.

In addition to her parents, Rowena was predeceased by her brother, Ned Ervin Donkle; her sister, Betty Jo Rinaldi; the father of her daughters, Ralph Harkin Penley, Jr. (Buck); her second husband, Alvin (Gene) Jones; and her daughter, Bonnie Penley Pertsch.

Her survivors include her daughters, Susan Penley Dial and Dixie Grey Penley; three grandchildren, Joseph Richard Dial (Joyce), Krystal Pertsch (Todd), and Heather Pertsch Grindle (Merlin); six great-grandchildren, Jake, Lynleigh, Hayden, Ethan, Maverick, and Mason; and nephews Ned Ervin Donkle, Jr. (Susan) and William Vance Donkle (Jennifer).

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers who assisted the family, including Cynthia Gore, Teresa Angelino and Roxanne Herion.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside memorial service at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 2:00pm.
