Hannah Ruth Kern Obituary

In the early morning hours of November 27, 2021, Hannah was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and saviour at the age of 88.

She joins in heaven her parents, Emil and Ernestine Kokot, parents-in-law Bertha and Herman Kern and her brothers and sisters Olga Beselt, Arthur, Adina Daudrich, Hilda, John, Walter and Myrtle.

Hannah was born November 8, 1933, on a farm near Minitonas. She attended public schools in the valley and was a diligent student and loving child who always had a smile on her face.

Hannah accepted Jesus Christ as her personal saviour in 1946 and was baptized the same year.

After graduating from Berean Bible College in Calgary in 1955, and completing a business course, she found employment in Edmonton and also found the love of her life, Milton. The two married on November 12, 1958. They farmed in Millet, AB and were blessed with their first child, Reginald and in 1960 made the decision to return to Swan River and take over her parents' farm. Here they had two more children, Sharon and Stanley.

Hannah worked side by side with Milton running a successful dairy farm for 31 years.  She worked hard to provide for her family, growing and preserving meats, vegetables, and jams, baking delicious breads and pies and selling milk and chickens. She gladly hosted school groups, and became the dairy farm tour guide. This was Hannah's time to shine, as she was able share her love of the farm and ice cream treats with the kids. Although the dairy was very demanding, they still found time to enjoy vacations travelling or driving to the nearest lake and spending a couple nights around the fire with their family.

Hannah was a charter member of Temple Baptist Church, faithfully attending all her life. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and participated in the Women's Ministries and Homebuilders.

Hannah could never sit still even while relaxing, she made Christmas decorations, crocheted afghans, and kept her mind sharp with puzzles, books, and games.

Hannah was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandma, Great-grandma, sister, auntie, and friend.

She will be missed by so many, and we embrace our memories of chicken dinners, apple pie and homemade bread.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory: Milton, her loving husband of 63 years. Her children Reg (Merry), Sharon (Hubert) Theroux, and Stanley. Her grandchildren, Stacey (Zach), Ryan (Julie), Ariel, Kirby (Justin), Adrian (Shay), Johanna (John), Ashlee, Aynslee, and her great-grandchildren Kuno, Huxton, and Atley. As well as in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews, and her Temple Baptist Church family.
