Janet Lee McNeal Obituary

Janet Lee McNeal went to her heavenly home Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2021. She was born July 16, 1940, in Wickham, WV, she was the daughter of the late James & Lillian Voies Nary.

Janet served as the Chaplain at Raleigh General Hospital and Bowers Hospice House for many years and enjoyed her volunteer service.  Her earlier years, she worked at the Beckley Manufacturing Plant in Beckley, WV.  Janet also worked at various labs in the Beckley area as a phlebotomist.

She loved to garden and study her Bible.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She was a member of the Mabscott Holiness Church and delivered God’s message on the first Wednesday of the month to the congregation.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill D. McNeal, a daughter, Linda Sue McNeal Johns, Janet’s brothers, Jimmy and Johnny Nary and sisters, Barbara, Mary, and Patsy.                        

Survivors include her son, Billy McNeal and wife Drema, of Beckley, WV; grandchildren Emilee McNeal of Beckley and Ashley McNeal and her husband, Jason Frye and their two daughters, Sage and Thea of Shady Spring, WV.  Eugene “Skip” Johns III of Winter Haven, Billy Austin Johns and Janet Johns of Wildwood, Florida; great grandchildren Riley, Ayden, Aletheia, and Elizabeth; Janet’s sisters Sue, Betty and brother-in-law, Roger Surratt of Beckley, WV; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends 11:00 -12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2021 service will be held at 12 p.m. at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Pastor E. G. “Buzz” Keller and Eddie Tucker officiating. There will be a private burial for the family, it will be in the Tower Garden section of the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, WV.
