Alvin Ray Haymond Donaldsonville, Louisiana Obituary

"Humbug"

“The Lord is my Shepherd: I shall not want. He maketh me lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” Psalm 23: 1-3 Mr. Alvin “Humbug” Ray Haymond, exchanged his cross for his crown on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at 9:00 A.M at Chateau D’Ville Rehabilitation & Retirement Center. He was 66 years old. Alvin was born on March 12, 1955 at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Leo Frank Haymond Sr. and the late Fredonia Chatman Haymond. He was a native of Donaldsonville, Louisiana, and he received his education at Lowery High School. Alvin worked at St. James Stevedoring in Convent, Louisiana for many years where he worked his way up from laborer to operator. He accepted Christ during early adulthood and was baptized at The Christian Assembly Full Gospel Church in Gonzales, Louisiana by the Late Reverend Dr. Richard Rayborn Sr. Due to his change of residency, Alvin became a faithful member of the Greater Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Timothy Campbell Sr. until his health began to fail. “Humbug” as he was affectionately called by his friends and loved ones, lived his life to the fullest while enduring every aspect of it. He enjoyed late night cooking with his companion of 27 years, talking and telling stories with his brothers, family gatherings, and being outside working in his yard. “Humbug” was also a neat freak and very particular about his attire. It took him “hours” to get dressed for any occasion. For those that knew him best, knew one thing for sure, you couldn’t be honest about the start time of an event, because dealing with Alvin, you were already two hours late. Alvin leaves to cherish his memories, three (3) brothers, Arthur and Ronald Haymond, Donaldsonville, LA, Edward (Jonna) Haymond, Gonzales, LA, his step children Carondelet Dunbar, Leroy Dunbar Jr., and Desmond Dunbar Sr., Baton Rouge, LA, two (2) grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Kirsten Dunbar and Desmond Dunbar Jr., Baton Rouge, LA, sister-in-law, Gracie Haymond, Gonzales, LA, two (2) aunts, Mildred H.
