A Funeral Ceremony will be at 10:00 am Friday, December 3, 2021, at the O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy. Rev. Scott Snider will officiate. Friends and Family are invited to Yvonne's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL. Yvonne was born March 13, 1947, in Quincy, IL to Gerald Dale and Catherine (Pascoe) Cobern. She married Lawrence F. Arnold on September 4, 1970 in Quincy, IL. He survives. In addition to her husband, other survivors include three children, Brock Dean Arnold (Anita) of Quincy, IL, Rhett Allyn Arnold (Stephanie) of Liberty, IL, and Sabrina Leeann Nebe (Troy) of Quincy, IL; seven grandchildren, Zachary and Zoey Arnold, Baylee and Blake Arnold, and Lauren, Bryce, and Cole Nebe; four brothers, James Grover Cobern (Karen) of Quincy, IL, Marvin Eugene Cobern of Peculiar, MO, Charles Kenneth Cobern (Francy) of Chatham, IL, and Neil Craig Cobern (Pam) of Clayton, IL; one cousin, Judith Ann (Cobern) Swenson (Wayne) of Tishomingo, OK; and many nieces and nephews. Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Michael Dale Cobern, and a sister-in-law, Vi Cobern. She was a graduate of Quincy High School and later attended Quincy Beauty Academy. Yvonne then went on to be a meter maid in the city of Quincy, which she enjoyed very much. Yvonne spent most of her time taking care of the farm and caring for their children. After their children grew up, she worked at Micro-Energy for several years until their closing which led to her retirement. Yvonne loved spending time in her vegetable garden tending to her tomatoes, zucchini, sweet corn, turnips, and onions. She was an excellent cook and baker, with a couple of her specialties being homemade pies and fried bread. Yvonne always enjoyed having the whole family over for meals on Thanksgiving and Christmas, where she would make many of the family’s favorite dishes. Outside of being with her family, she loved to travel and see new places. One of her favorite places to be was Destin, FL, where she and Lawrence spent 15+ winters. A few of her other favorite things were reading mystery novels, eating at Kelly's and Sprout's, attending social gatherings at Cedar Crest Country Club, listening to old country music, and watching some of her favorite things on TV. If Yvonne got to pick what to watch, you could count on her to turn on either football, especially if Peyton Manning was playing, or any movie that starred her favorite actor, John Wayne. She also enjoyed watching golf whether it be in person, on the course, or on TV. Yvonne was a member of St. Brigid's Catholic Church in Liberty, IL. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Iskra Pusic, as well as her nurses and staff at Barnes Jewish Hospital, for their excellent care of Yvonne. Pallbearers will be Blake Arnold, Bryce Nebe, Cole Nebe, Zachary Arnold, Monte Brink, and Blaine Roe. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chuck Wiskirchen, Bill Leckbee, George Billings, Travis Arnold, and Shane Arnold. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Liberty High School Golf Fund. The family would also like to encourage anyone who is willing to donate a unit of blood to do so in Yvonne's name.
