Mark Wayne Kuhnhenn Rugby, North Dakota Obituary

Mark Wayne Kuhnhenn

Mark Wayne Kuhnhenn was born on October 10, 1953, in Rugby, North Dakota to Dale and Angeline (Miller) Kuhnhenn. He died at the age of 68 years on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at the Trinity Medical Center in Minot, North Dakota. Mark was raised in the family ranch home of his parents near Denbigh and graduated from Towner High School. In 1974, Mark started his career with the BNSF Railroad, a position he held until retiring in 2013. On June 7, 1980, he was united in marriage to Janelle Grondahl and took over the family ranching operations in 1987. Although he worked for 39 years on the railroad, his true love was his cattle and life on the ranch. Then his grandchildren came about…loving them with his whole heart. Mark was a doting grandfather, building them a teeter-totter for the swing set, buying them each a horse and a 4-wheeler. He loved every minute spending time with his family. Mark was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees, the Red Angus Association of America, and the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association. He also enjoyed membership in the First Lutheran Church, Granville and served on its council. Just to keep busy, he also served as Riga Township Supervisor. Mark is survived by his wife of 41 years, Janelle; a son, Shawn (Patti) of Minot; a daughter, Ashley Kuhnhenn of Towner; three grandchildren, Carlie, Cambrie, and Dayton Kuhnhenn; a sister, Faye (Richard) Hoffart, Rugby; brothers, Ralph (Karen), Minot; Tim (Diane) and Jim (Brenda) all of Bantry; Donnie (Julie), Towner; Todd (Marcy), Minot; and Darin (Rhonda), Granville; sister-in-law, Patricia Kuhnhenn, Rugby, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Daryl; and his parents. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3rd at the First Lutheran Church in Granville with burial in the Rosehill Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. in Minot. Pastor Kathi Nygaard, officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Towner with reviewal at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the time of the service.
