Glenburn - Susan Catherine McGarry passed away on Friday November 26, 2021 after a battle with colon cancer. She was born in Wrentham, Massachusetts, on June 2, 1954 to Francis and Genevieve (Sweeney) McGarry. She retired in 2020 after teaching mathematics and physics at Bangor High School for 21 years. Sue loved family, the outdoors, and being creative. She was an avid Boston sports fan. Among the activities she enjoyed were knitting, spinning wool, hiking, snowshoeing, gardening, and baking bread. She particularly enjoyed spending fall Sunday afternoons with family while watching the Patriots and having home-made pizza. She leaves behind her dog Caera; her husband Robert Franzosa; children David Kleinschmidt, Stephanie Kleinschmidt, and Jeffrey Kleinschmidt; stepchildren Eric Franzosa and Alyssa Franzosa; son-in-law Torvic Vardamis; grandson Walden Vardamis; siblings Virginia Haley, Phyllis Shubert, Frances Howley, Edward McGarry, Mary Voci, Janet Youmans, and Lois Capasso; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, 3 pm to 5 pm Friday December 3, 2021, where a sharing of stories of her life will be held at 4 pm. An academic award is being established in Susan’s name for a deserving mathematics student at Bangor High School.
