Rose F. Meeks, age 92, departed from this life for her new life on November 23, 2021 surrounded by family. She was born in Sallisaw, OK on October 9, 1929 the daughter of Robert Russell Anderson Sr. and Ona I. Anderson. Rose was the 4th of 5 in her family. She graduated from Muskogee High School.
Rose began her working career at the telephone Company. While working there she met the love of her life Ed and they married August 12, 1950. They spent 71 wonderful years together. In 1954 Rose led Ed to the Lord. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, a woman of deep faith and the anchor of her family.
Rose became a stay-at-home mother until the kids entered high school. Then she worked as the emergency room admitting clerk at Muskogee Regional Hospital until her retirement in 1986. She loved anything that kept her hands busy such as sewing, crocheting, cooking, and working a puzzle but her most precious was holding grandbabies.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Ed; Son Mark Steven Meeks, Sr; Siblings Robert Russell Anderson Jr., Mary Havens, Freda Roye, and Tommy Anderson; Grandsons Mark Meeks, Jr and Timothy Allen Huggins.
She leaves behind a son William E. "Bill" Meeks, Jr and wife Priscilla; two daughters: Ona Goodman and husband DeWayne, Iva Guinn and husband Donnie; eleven grandchildren: Jim Huggins, Gina Huggins, Zachary Meeks and wife Sharon, Eric Meeks and wife Carol Anne, Dr. Emily Williams and husband Deric, Edwina Williams and husband Brad, Jennifer Collins and husband Stephen, Jonathan Goodman, William J. "Billy" Meeks, James Guinn, Rachel Cotton: 21 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 2 at Oasis Community Church located at 800 W. Peak Blvd. in Muskogee, OK with Pastor Rodney Mattox officiating. Services are under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Service of Muskogee.
