Priscilla Chamberlain Obituary

Priscilla Estabrook Chamberlain, 100, formerly of Bridgewater, MA, passed into the arms of her Savior on November 25 at her home in Branford, CT. She was born on June 10, 1921, daughter of the late Harold Mauger and Mary Salomon Estabrook, and was raised in Arlington, MA. Priscilla is survived by her five children: David C. Chamberlain, Jr., Esq. (Ruth) of Winchester, MA; Martha Chamberlain Ober (the late Dr. Richard W.) of Barrington, R.I.; Bruce H. Chamberlain (the late Janet) and Marguerite of Pleasant Garden, N.C.; Thomas T. Chamberlain (Jan) of Canton, MA; and Rev. Stephen E. Chamberlain (Lois) of Branford, CT; 19 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, David C. Chamberlain. She was the sister of Harold M. Estabrook Jr. (Deborah) and the late Lois Bradford (Ralph). A graduate of Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School, Priscilla met and married David, a naval Lieutenant, in 1942. They were married for 65 years. Following World War II, they lived in Winchester and Attleboro, MA, Contoocook, N.H., and Bridgewater, MA, where they stayed for 45 years. Until recent years, she spent summers at her vacation home on Cape Cod. Her last residence was in Branford, CT, where she was a member of BE Free Church. Priscilla was a woman of deep faith in Christ. She was involved for over 40 years in the West Bridgewater Baptist Church serving as Sunday School Superintendent, Vacation Bible School Director, choir member, and Sunday School teacher. She spent many years leading women’s Bible studies and speaking at Christian Women’s Clubs around New England. She took delight in sharing her faith with the people she encountered in her life. She was a dynamic presence in the lives of all who knew her. Priscilla had a great appreciation of God’s creation, especially ornithology. A skilled seamstress, she enjoyed creating elegant apparel. Her many other interests included theology, history, and archaeology. She most loved spending time with her ever-growing family. The goal of her life was to be a faithful servant to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Friends may call Friday, December 3, from 5:00-7:30 PM at BE Free Church, 231 Leetes Island Road, Branford, CT, and may attend a funeral service on Saturday, December 4, at 12 noon, also at BE Free Church.
